OUR STORY

Angel One Training Group, LLC. is a veteran owned small business, founded in 2013 by Tom Rovetuso, a former law enforcement officer with extensive experience as a firearms/tactics instructor and SWAT operator. The name Angel One Training Group comes from Tom's service as the Sniper Team Leader during which he was given the designation (Call Sign) of "Angel One".

During Tom's cumulative 29 years of law enforcement experience, he learned that when seconds count, first responders are minutes away. Thus our motto "Be your own guardian angel!" refers to our belief that you and you alone must be responsible for your safety and the safety of your family.

Paratus - Vigilantis - Fortis is Latin and translates to Prepared - Vigilant - Strong. It is the code which drives our training toward the goal of individual responsibility and capability. Be prepared by "being a student of your art" constantly seeking knowledge and skill, be vigilant by being aware of your surroundings and having a plan, be strong by being physically fit and possessing the proper mind set to perform in stressful situations.

INSTRUCTORS

Tom Rovetuso - Owner/Chief Instructor

Tom is the Owner and Chief Instructor of Angel One Training Group, LLC. A1TG conducts firearms/tactics training and security consulting for law enforcement, military, corporate and civilian clients.

Tom served 5 years (2013-2017) as a part-time police officer for the Village of Lakemoor, Illinois, assigned as the training officer. During this time, he was responsible to develop, conduct and record all in-house training as well as assist in writing department policy.

Tom served 24 years (1986-2010) as a full time sworn Deputy Sheriff with the Lake County (IL) Sheriff’s Office – Tom retired in 2010. During his last 5 years, Tom was assigned to the Training Division as the full time Senior Firearms and Tactics Instructor and part-time Tactical Response Team – Field Commander. During his career, Tom attended over 3516 hours of formal training classes. Tom served in the Court Security, Highway Patrol, Criminal Investigations and Training Divisions. Tom has a strong tactical and training background.

Served 23 years as a member of the Tactical Response Team and has extensive training and experience in Police Special Operations and Police Sniping. While serving on TRT, Tom held the positions of Entry Team Member, Assistant Team Leader, Team Leader, Sniper, Sniper Team Leader, Assistant Field Commander and Field Commander.
Has 23 years of experience as an instructor for the Lake County Sheriff’s Office and instructed over 5960 hours of in-service, tactical & sniper training in his last five years of service alone. Tom served as the senior instructor for both firearms and defensive tactics. In addition, Tom is a certified instructor in basic firearms, shotgun, carbine rifle, sniper, shoot house, defensive tactics, oc spray, taser, pepperball, SWAT tactics and Simunition scenario-based training.
Tom has trained in the martial arts since 1977 and holds a Second Degree Black Belt in Tae Kwon-Do as well as extensive experience in Filipino Martial Arts and Muay Thai Kickboxing.
Tom served in the United States Marine Corps Reserve as an infantry Sergeant and is a Gulf War Veteran.
Tom is an NRA certified pistol instructor.

Mr. Tarani, formerly sworn in the states of California and Nevada, is a former Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) employee, protective programs educator and formerly on staff at the US Department of Energy (DOE) National Security Institute (Security Force Training Dept.) at Kirtland Air Force Base (NM). At the time of this writing, he is a published author of eight books, an active protective agent, remains an adviser to the US Department of Justice (USDOJ), US Department of Defense, the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) and is a member of InfraGard in good standing.
