Week Two : Weekly Outline

Lesson 6

Me, Myself, and My Microbes II (fast art): Students will complete their artistic expressions of the human microbiome and present their work to their peers (sample plan from the first half of this lesson).

Lesson 7

Origins of Bacteria and Viruses (lecture/seminar and research jigsaw): Students will be introduced to the relationship between bacteria, viruses, and the origins of life, as well as theories about the abiotic world. Students will begin higher-order research into bacteria and viruses.

Lesson 8

Bacteria and Viruses Research (jigsaw and critical reading): Students will research higher-order topics of their own choosing concerning either bacteria or viruses.

Lesson 9

Bacteria vs. Viruses (debate-style game): Students will present their original research in teams using a game-like format.

Lesson 10

Website Development (online/technology-focused): Students will use their research to create webpages within a shared website. They will work collaboratively in groups and will constructively comment on each other's work.

Week Two: Sample Lesson Plan
