Anastasia Parianou is a Professor at the Department of Foreign Languages, Translation and Interpreting (DFLTI) of the Ionian University, Corfu, Greece, where she teaches "Technical Translation from German to Greek".
In collaboration with Professor Michael Cronin from Trinity College Dublin and Panagiotis Kelandrias, Professor at the DFLTI of the Ionian University, Anastasia parianou has founded, and edits, the international refereed translation journal "MTM. Minor Translating Major-Major Translating Minor-Minor Translating Minor".
For several years she was responsible, together with Professor Sigmund Kvam from Østfold University College, Norway, for the preparation and implementation of the model European Scientific Programme WISSTRANS ("Intensive Programme WISSTRANS, Wissensmanagement und Übersetzungsstrategie beim fachsprachlichen Übersetzen vom Deutschen in kleinere europäische Sprachen"), which dealt with knowledge management and the translation process in specialised translation from German into minor European languages.
Her scientific interests are: technical translation, specialised translation and risk communication, critical discourse analysis, translation between 'major' and 'minor' languages, interpreting, phraseology and translation, names and translation.
