School Vision & Culture

Mission: As a team, we will collaboratively work to ensure that all students grow.   

Vision: Through collaborative efforts, Adairsville Middle School will strive to grow our students in order to prepare them for college and career readiness and to be productive contributors to the community. We will accomplish this by providing STEM, PBIS, collaborative networks, and extracurricular opportunities.

The Adairsville Middle School STEM Vision and Culture have been established from the leadership down. Mr. Stanfill, former AMS principal, believed in the benefits that STEM offered our students, promoted our vision to the community, and collaborated with teachers to support the STEM culture at AMS. In addition, a STEM subcommittee was formed during the 2019-2020 school year under the direction of then STEM coordinator, Sarah Callaway. This subcommittee has the most teacher representation of any subcommittee. Since the culture was established, AMS has continued to lead the district in STEM, becoming Bartow County STEM-certified in 2020 and GaDOE STEM-certified in 2021. AMS has chosen to expose ALL students to STEM through the whole-school model. Our innovative focus is students with disabilities. These students need high-interest, rigorous, hands-on curriculum that we can provide through a STEM-embedded curriculum. The AMS vision specifically mentions how we will strive to grow our students to prepare them for college and careers where they will be productive members of the community. We have noted that STEM is one way for us to live out our vision. Additionally, we have developed a STEM framework, accessible by link below, that provides guidance for new staff members and stakeholders seeking information about the vision, culture, and curriculum approach to STEM at AMS. 

AMS is capturing our students' curiosity by integrating STEM into the academic curriculum. ALL students at AMS are able to discover the connection between their academic subjects and are able to apply new knowledge to real­ world applications within their community. Our STEM activities incorporate the four Cs: Collaboration, Communication, Creativity, and Critical Thinking.  

At AMS, we include a fifth C: Community to highlight the partnership that students have with our municipal corporations. At the beginning of our journey, AMS students collaborated with the STEM Committee and art teacher, Chris Cowan, to design our school-wide Engineering Design Process.
