Under the aegis of WHO, every year World Antimicrobial Awareness Week (WAAW) is celebrated from 18-24 November. The slogan for WAAW 2023 is 'Antimicrobials: Handle with care' and the theme for this year remains the same, that is 'Preventing Antimicrobial Resistance Together'. The WAAW 2023 calls on ‘One Health’ stakeholders, policymakers, health care providers, and the general public to be Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) Awareness champions.

Doodle Drawing Competition
Doodle Drawing Competition
The doodle should be of A4/A3 size, coloured or black and white. The doodle has to be uploaded as a PDF or JPEG file of maximum size 10 MB.
The file name should be DDC_participant full name (as on the registration form)
Last date of submission of Doodle: 24th November, 2023, midnight (IST).
Poster Making Competition

The poster should be of A4/A3 size, coloured or black and white. The poster has to be uploaded as a PDF or JPEG file of maximum size 10 MB.
The file name should be PMC_participant full name (as on the registration form)
Last date of submission of Poster: 24th November, 2023, midnight (IST).

The slogan should not exceed 20-25 words. The slogan has to be uploaded as a PDF or JPEG file of maximum size 10 MB.

The World Health Organization (WHO) has declared antimicrobial resistance (AMR) as one of the top 10 global health threats. Antimicrobials, especially antibiotics have saved millions of lives over the past several years since their discovery. Unfortunately, misuse and overuse of these medicines is leading to increasing resistance to antimicrobials in disease-causing microorganisms, making even common infections difficult to treat. A person at any age, anywhere in the world can get an infection that is resistant to treatment. This could take a huge toll on human lives and livelihoods in the near future unless urgent action is taken at a global scale to reduce antimicrobial resistance.

In tune with WAAW 2023, we at the Anti-Microbial Research (AMR) Lab, are organizing various free online events as part of our continuous social outreach efforts under the Scientific Social Responsibility (SSR) measures as promoted by the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Govt. of India. It is open to the public at large.
