The last sailing leudo in Liguria is the Nuovo Aiuto di Dio (New Help of God) and is managed by the Amici del Leudo Association. It was built in 1924 on the beach of Sestri Levante by the shipwright Antonio Muzio, also known as "Tugnin Capetta".
Historically belonging to the Zolezzi family, which traded wine. During the Second World War, it was requisitioned by the Germans and during the retreat the boat suffered a shipwreck at the mouth of the Arno. The shipowner had it recovered, but it was abandoned in the mid-twentieth century, as happened to the other leudi.
It remained aground on the beach of Sestri Levante until 1994, when the first members of the APS Amici del Leudo began the restoration work which ended with the help of the Scottish shipwright, Stewart Hyder.
Once in condition to sail aigain and it was launched in June 2011. Today it sails at sea in the summer and in winter it is beached on the so called "Balin beach" in Sestri Levante.
