I found Swift in Seattle. I had owned a Yamaha 25 in Guam a knew the design would suit the Columbia River. The Yamaha 25 offers an 8 horsepower inboard diesel. The boat has a clever, convertible interior and a quarter berth. I had her trucked to Portland and launched at Schooner Creek. We sailed Swift on the Columbia and Willamette rivers for years. Calvin purchased and renamed her. She is moored on the south side of Hayden Bay.

These boats have a cast iron keel. Exposure to salt water encourages these rust blooms.
The trick is to grind all of the paint and other coatings down to bare metal, the seal the whole thing with a good epoxy.
Some sailors are concerned about iron keels, but they'll easily outlive us all with just a bit of care.
