The sea strainer was too small. It would fill with debris every 20 or 30 hours. It was difficult to open and reseat. It was too much trouble to keep it clear.
I looked for a durable metal strainer but I couldn't find one to fit in the space. I'm not keen about plastic but this new one is great.
The 3/4" VETUS strainer type 140 is a perfect fit. It can be viewed from above and the top loading design is much easier to open and clean.
Aquila did not have an expansion tank and the coolant was never filled to the top. This new tank captures overflowing coolant and keeps it out of the bilge.
I'm not keen about the zip ties and am looking for a better way to secure it. The tank is in the right place and coolant level is now a quick check.
There was no siphon break to keep exhaust water out of the engine. This Vetus AIRVENTV does the trick.
It is located on the centerline so that heeling won't overcome it.
The horizontal line is the height of the engine box. At 8 inches, it is the minimum height above the water line to prevent back flooding.
The raw water pump started leaking out of the shaft. It needs to be rebuilt or replaced. At $700, it seems expensive
