The Yamaha 36 takes her design cues from Peter Norlin, but it is credited to the in-house Yamaha design team. Available in the United States from 1979 to 1985. Early models are shown with the engine forward and the long triangular cabin portlights. Later changes moved the engine, redesigned the cabin, removed the starboard pilot berth, reconfigured tankage and offered a taller mast.
The aft cabin is quite private and offers a large berth. Access is through a narrow companionway aft of the pilot station. A portlight opens into the cockpit for light and ventilation. There is space in the port side for air conditioning, a genset and water heater.
