Welcome!
My name is Amanda, and this site is a hub for information about all of the surveys I conduct involving Breyer Model Horses! Since 2014, I have created and conducted various surveys aimed at the Breyer Horse hobby community. On this site, you will find links to and information about each of the major survey series.
A little bit about me...
I got my first Breyers for Christmas at age 9, over 20 years ago! What drew me in was the catalog that came in the box with that Little Red Stable set. I fell in love with the range of Breyers that were pictured, but I was frustrated that we couldn't order them directly from that! Over the next year or so, I discovered several stores in my local area that carried Breyers (particularly Toys R Us, a local tack shop, and a local dollhouse shop), and set about adding various herd members (Classics, Paddock Pals, Stablemates, and Companion Animals) until my 10th birthday, when I got my first group of Traditionals from family. I was hooked for sure! I did "play" with my models in the first few years, but as an older child, I was pretty careful with them. In those few years, my parents and I discovered online Breyer retailers such as Walkabout Farm, and I was able to add a few retired models to my collection too, not just new ones. In late 2002, age 12, I received my first issue of JAH! I became enamored with the idea of attending a live show, and this timing also went well with me growing out of playing with the models and being happier to have them sit on a shelf, or practicing taking pictures of them.
In fall of 2003, I attended my first live show, a long-running novice show in my area (back then, it had Open as well). It was an incredible experience for my parents and I to walk into the bustling show hall, and seeing all of this part of the hobby for the first time. I only brought a dozen models, but I had a great time! I went to two shows the following spring, but at Open level because there were very few novice options at that time. In summer 2004, my parents and I experienced BreyerFest for the first time! I entered the Youth show and won my first "first place", with a beloved favorite in my collection, out of a class of nearly 100 models! What a day! I kept participating in live shows for the rest of junior high and high school, but generally just a couple a year due to other commitments.
I had planned to take a full hobby break during college (attending summer shows to visit friends), but after 1 1/2 years, I transferred home from the first 4-year college that I attended. I jumped back into the hobby and particularly live shows with both feet in 2011, while attending community college (later commuting to a different 4 year and then grad school). In 2012, I traveled to KY again for the first time since 2004 to attend NAN, and won my first Reserve National Champion award (plus a bunch of top 10's). I also started judging at shows in 2012. In 2014, I was finally able to host my own live show for the first time- a novice show -to give back to the community I care for. Barring 2020-2022, I have held this show every year since to great success! In 2017, I attended BreyerFest again with my mom, my cousin, and her daughters! I also co-hosted the regional championship show.
In the past couple years, I have focused more on the data side and helping other folks with projects (including volunteering for BreyerFest for the first time as a photo show steward in 2021!) I also started a blog where I chat about hobby topics and the hobby's connection to my mental health, at times. In late 2019, I hosted my first swap meet.
Along my journey I have also dabbled in photo shows and repainting, but live shows are my biggest focus in the hobby - besides the data nerdery, of course!

Vote for your favorite colors on each mold!
Hi everyone! I am back after a summer & fall hiatus from surveys. The break was much needed but I'm looking forward to getting back into things for the new year!
Starting off is the annual BreyerFest SR Rankings Poll! This usually has a short window to participate - it has launched on January 25th and will likely only be up for 1-2 weeks or so depending on the participant turnout. I hope it will help plan your tickets, especially for VIP folks!
The poll is now closed as of Sunday, March 16th. Please see the Other Surveys & Polls page for the results! Thank you for participating!
2/4/2024 - The BreyerFest Special Run Rankings poll is BACK for 2024! The timing of this is a bit odd after the last couple years due to how late the final SR reveal was, but we're still going for it! I'm planning to leave this up for about 2 weeks but I'll monitor the progress and see how it goes. Join the fun - https://forms.office.com/r/ct4Gh7zRLk
2/16/2024 - Results are up over on the Other Surveys & Polls page! Thank you to the 431 participants!
The Ranking poll is different from others that have popped up on FB, Blab, etc. as those only ask about favorites. And this method gathers everyone's rankings in one place to provide a better perspective on which models are more or less popular :) I love seeing everyone gather data, and I always like sharing my tools as well! Thank you to everyone who chimes in!
In honor of the Winterfest sneak peek - the Christmas Day gambler will be a Moody mold! - I am opening my Christmas Day Predictions survey earlier than usual! I think this will be the first time it's opened a full 24 days. I hope we have an even better chance of being correct than usual with the hint!
Putting my "Which SM Molds Do You Want to See in the 2024 Stablemate Club" survey out there before Breyer does any more reveals/previews Please note that this only includes molds that have NOT yet been used in the club!
All of this is just for fun and will only go until we start getting more reveals (last year's only lasted from 11/28-12/3, for reference!) so definitely hop in and participate so you don't miss out! Results available!
Hi everyone! With the announcement of the Tiny Othello aka MiniSong this week, I thought it would be fun to see which other molds folks are hoping to see in SM scale plastic someday! Photos of each mold are provided as a reminder of whom I'm asking about. 🎉
I have the Traditional adults split up the same way I do for the Favorites series (by mold), two groups for the TR Foals (50's-80's and 90's-now), and two for the Gallery molds (those that are on the larger side and then the smaller molds + ornaments). Since the groups are not all the same size, the maximum number you can choose per group is scaled accordingly with the max amount being 10 and minimum 1. I know some people prefer to only pick one but others find only picking one stressful, so how many you pick is up to you within the bounds per question. :)
I'd advise if there's a particular group that you don't care for in general, please choose one thinking about which of the molds in question would be most popular/impactful to the hobby, which would provide more depth to a breed category in SM scale, etc.
So far the survey seems to take most folks about 5-10 minutes if that helps! :)
See the results on the "Other Surveys & Polls" page!
Hooray! The Chalky Survey is back! This is a fun exercise I run every other fall to help the hobby community stay up to date with the relative rarity of the known chalky Breyers. For those unfamiliar with chalkies or how to identify them, please visit the blog linked at the top of the survey. 😊
This year, I’ve added additional options for the 1960’s Painted Over Deco/Woodgrains – the 5 that came in both woodgrain and deco colors have an option for each color, plus a “not sure which color” option.
I have also eliminated the Basecoat vs. Chalky Plastic options for the 1970’s models. This has streamlined the survey a lot! I also believe the proportions of Basecoat vs. Plastic were getting rather murky and unreliable as some models are very hard to tell which they are even for experienced hobbyists, and this might have been too much of a challenge for folks who are less familiar with chalkies to begin with.
As always, if you own more than one copy of any chalky model, please submit the survey enough times to account for the extras. For example, I have two black stretch Morgans and 2 SBW, so I’d submit the survey once for all of my chalkies I only own one of and the first copies of Morgan & SBW. I would then submit a second form but just with the second Morgan and SBW.
I’m going to keep this open until MONDAY NOVEMBER 9th, as October will be quite busy for me to be analyzing the results, and I want to offer a decent amount of time to complete the survey. I hope you all enjoy!
9/26/23 - Quick note - I looked back at my notes from 2021 and have added the Stablemate TB Mare in Chestnut and Rin Tin Tin the German Shepherd (though I do not recall if I got photo proof of those two. If anyone has already taken the survey and has one or both of those two, please feel free to submit another form for one/both. My apologies for not reviewing my notes before publishing!
RESULTS Available on "Breyer Vintage Surveys"
I am once again interested to see how well we can predict the general proportions of the Surprise distribution this year! Last year was fairly accurate, even with 581 submissions - I believe as a group of poll participants, we accounted for about 10% of the population.
This year will work pretty much the same way! If you personally pulled Stagecoach Surprise models from the AA, VIP, Wild Card, or Second Chance Sale lines, please report which color(s) you ended up with. For online ticket holders, please join the fun when you receive any Surprises your account was selected for in the mail! This poll is not meant for reporting any models that you bought second-hand or traded for, as we may accidentally double-count models that way (if the original owner and new owner both report the same horse).
If you pulled duplicates, please submit the form as many times as it takes to account for all of those you received. For example, I pulled 2 black pinto mattes on my tickets, so I submitted the form twice (the first submission also included the glossies I got from the second chance line on Sunday). If you have any questions, please let me know!
I'm planning to leave this up until Breyer releases the quantities so lots of folks have the chance to participate!
On May 31 2023, Breyer announced that there will be a CCA event on June 1st with 4 glossies to be revealed at the launch of the event, noting that these will be "fan favorites". I created a quick poll to see if we as a community can correctly guess any of the options! This poll will close at 12:45 PM EDT on June 1st, so it'll be up for less than 24 hours! As of editing this page, there are over 100 responses so far.
Unlike some of my other polls, you can specifically choose up to 4 models to vote for!

Will the hobby community guess the Surprise this year?? We got it right in 2021!
Thank you to everyone who participated! We will see in July if we're correct...
🥳 Just in time for ticket sales to begin tomorrow, here are the results of my 2023 BreyerFest Special Runs ranking poll! I am delighted that the amount of responses was on par with last year - this makes it easier to see just how different the choices are!
Last year, Stein was the clear favorite, and in 2021, it was Pollock. (I did not do polls for previous years.) While the overall ranking is determined by the percent of higher vs. lower rankings for each model, individually the number of votes per slot, particularly 1st place varied a lot!
Peanutine and Jump & Drive went back and forth a lot in overall ranking! I wasn't sure which would end up 4th and which as 5th. Nemea, while not as popular as Pollock, still seems to be more popular than typical for the Unrealistic SR.
I hope this helps some folks make decisions in the coming weeks/months :)
Join the fun at https://forms.office.com/r/xkgz2fGCzN! Last year's poll had around 500 participants!
Which of the Stablemate molds that we haven't seen in the club yet are you hoping will be in the lineup for 2023? Join in the fun at https://forms.gle/wCYrkMRgFj7HHFJE8
