DETAIL
His & Hers, (2024), acrylic paint, sticker.
His & Hers are two acrylic paintings on A3 canvas, with handmade stickers on top. The stickers are a play on the Fairtrade and Pink Lady stickers seen on fruits in supermarkets, subverted to contain the words "Vaginismus Sucks" and "Erectile Dysfunction Sucks". The numbers on each sticker are the official official medical codes for each respective condition, the Fairtrade logo becomes a penis, and the copyright symbol on the vaginismus stickers is a uterus.
Fruit stickers are kept by some, and discarded by many, before thoughtlessly chomping into and consuming the fruit. The metaphor surrounding this piece is people who ignore, don't understand or don't respect those with sexual dysfunctions, which causes damage to them and their mental wellbeing.
