Architectural Design III requires the harmonious merging of the built environment and the site. The key emphasis of the studio is “Engaging Environment and Community”, which investigates different environmental qualities and conditions via a project of a specific community of users in the context.

The pavilion serves as a recreational sanctuary for the visually impaired; a gentle concrete ramp leads the user to the interior of the pavilion that features a flower picking station facilitated with various species of fragrant creepers climbing the surrounding mesh wall that encompasses the left side of the user experience. On the right, the flowing rush of water audibly experienced from the vortex roof is fed by collected rainwater. The vortex roof is dotted with colourful polycarbonate panels intended to provide comfort for the visually impaired. With all available senses working together in harmony, the pavilion showcases an enriching experience for the targeted audience.

The transition of a child into an adult is the point in life where the individual is the most malleable; they are easily influenced by external factors growing up in their respective environment. Our hope is therefore to entrust our future generation into safe hands because it should be a shared responsibility to ensure that these children experience growth in a multifaceted approach; they should mature not only physically but also emotionally, mentally and intellectually. An after-school care centre addressing the growing demographic of children in the taman ehsan community is proposed in this project. The unique goal is to address the contrast of Taman Ehsan in its relationship to the nearby Kepong Botanical Gardens.
