“SHIPWRIGHT HAVEN” is a serene solitary haven for two in the idyllic Subang Ria Recreational Park, featuring solitary spaces inspired by traditional fisherfolk culture. It features a boat workshop and a casual kitchen and dining area. The design prioritizes a hierarchy of space, separating the zones for leisure and work. The two-story design elevates the isolated resting area pod and just peeks out from ground level while the solitary + discussion integration circulation lies below. The design is based on traditional boat-making culture, and the jutting skeletal roof design resembles that of the timber skeletal structure of a “sampan”.
