There are lots of ways for individuals to actively participate and contribute to our program. Here are some opportunities to get involved:
Join an Event Team: Students can join one of our event teams and participate in exciting Science Olympiad events. Explore different scientific disciplines, work with teammates, and showcase your knowledge and skills.
Volunteer as an Event Coach: Parents can become event coaches and play a vital role in guiding and preparing our students for the Science Olympiad competition. You can help plan and lead practices, provide support and encouragement, and be a mentor to our young scientists. More details can be found on Volunteer as an Event Coach
Be an Assistant Event Coach: If you have a passion for Science Olympiad but prefer a less time-intensive role, consider becoming an assistant event coach. You can attend practices, support the event coach, and assist with various aspects without the responsibility of developing curriculum and materials.
Key Volunteer: Work closely with WESO Board Members and other Key Volunteers to organize and execute a specific aspect of the tournament. This may involve several hours of commitment on the day of or the day before the competition. Key Volunteers are vital in ensuring the smooth operation of the event and providing a positive experience for all participants. We require at least one Key Volunteer from our school to fulfill this important role.
Assist with Volunteer Registration: Help us in soliciting and registering the volunteers needed for the competition day. WESO requires us to contribute 1 adult volunteer to help with the competition for every 3 Allen students team members.
Organize the End-of-Year Celebration: Join our team to help organize the end-of-year celebration for our Science Olympiad participants. This includes planning and coordinating activities to recognize and celebrate the achievements of our students throughout the season.
Volunteer at the Competition: On the day of the competition, we need volunteers to support various tasks such as event assistance, setup, crowd control, sale of raffle tickets and food, and more. Your help ensures the smooth running of the event and provides a positive experience for all participants.
Raffle Basket Coordinator: Reach out to local companies for donations or utilize existing parent council funds to purchase items. Create a themed basket that will be raffled off at the Science Olympiad competition and deliver it to the competition site the day before the competition
Join us in creating an enriching and memorable experience for our students. Together, we can inspire young minds and foster a love for science.
