My Digital Footprint
When I first searched just my name not much came up, and I am not surprised.
First Search: When I first searched my name, the only thing that came up that was actually me was my Facebook, on a long list of other Alicia Mathias's
More Refined Search: For my more refined search I decided to add in +Dundalk so that the search engine would have to show me results including the word Dundalk. In this search i found quite a few obituaries that I had been listed in. Some of which, dated all the way back to 2007, my great grandmothers, who passed when I was one and had no clue I was listed on.
Social Medias: The only social media of mine I was able to find with just my first and last name was my facebook, all of my other socials never list my last name, usually only my first and middle. I try to do this so that any future employers will not be able to find my social media pages easily. Just in case there is anything on there that would discourage them from hiring me.
What I learned
Honestly, I knew that I needed to be careful online with what I post, share, and say online as I know that it can never be fully deleted and will probably come back to kick me in the butt.
What I did not know, is just how easy it is to actually FIND information on you as well as your social medias. Anyone who has access to any piece of technology (so everyone in the world) needs is to have just a few key words about you and they will be able to find a bunch of information on you, and your social media activity.
