Creating the "Red Flags – How to Spot and Avoid Predatory Lending" infographic was an insightful experience. One of the key takeaways was the importance of breaking down complex financial topics into clear, accessible information for young learners. By addressing Course Learning Objective (CLO) 4, which focuses on recognizing the key red flags of predatory lending, I aimed to create a resource that helps students identify manipulative marketing techniques, hidden fees, and confusing loan terms.
A valuable lesson learned during this process was how essential it is to pair content with visuals that resonate with the target audience. Teens are more likely to engage with graphics, so ensuring that each red flag was represented by a relevant and straightforward icon helped make the concepts more relatable. Additionally, the balance between simplicity and clarity was crucial. I learned that it's important to present information in a way that is not only understandable but also empowering, giving students the tools to make informed decisions about loans and finances. Overall, this project reinforced the importance of developing educational content that speaks directly to the needs and interests of learners while still addressing critical topics like financial literacy and consumer protection.
