The Grove City STEM Night was a night with different stations where kids could come and do some activities that were related to different STEM fields they could possibly work in as a future career. The kids were encouraged to go to as many rooms as possible and they could get stamps to show which rooms they went to. The room I was in was for electrical engineering. In this room, kids could play with snap circuits or a board for controlling computer games called "Makey Makey." The Makey Makey was a circuit that could act as a controller for computer games by attaching conductive items to alligator clips at the end of a wire attached to a circuit board. The snap circuits gave students the opportunity to connect easy to use wires and attachments in a manner that obeys the laws of electricity in physics and make fun contraptions. The picture shows a circuit that could play the happy birthday tune that came from the blue part on the right labeled music through the red speaker on the left, all while being powered by the battery. The system could be turned on and off by the green switches. There was also a fun propellor ciruit that would launch a plastic propeller in the air, and if more batteries were added, it would spin faster and launch higher. This event is closely related to Danielson component 4C "Engaging Families and Communities." This event was a fun opportunity for families throughout the community to come and participate in the fun activities and it was a privilege to be able to help put this event on.Â
