After the ToonJam, I wanted to try something more videogame oriented, so I signed up for the Equinox GameJam with another team. We had a week to make a game that revolved around the topic of Space. Aside from that, we had to include an item in the game that had been randomly selected, which ended up being a Hydrogen Bomb.Â
Our game, called Space Defenders, featured a top-down perspective with 5 different levels in which you control a small spaceship fending off against a horde of aliens. We created 7 different types of enemies, as well as power ups and even cutscenes when you die or win the game.
We were a team of 5 people, so we could divide between art, coding and music, and thanks to everyone's effort we got the first place. My job in this project focused on programming, level design, shooting mechanics, Power-Ups, HUD and enemies.
