Welcome!

We are excited to welcome postdoctoral Research Associate, Dr. Andrew Richards, to the lab. Dr. Richards is an evolutionary biologist and ethologist, with prior experience working with taxa as varied as bottlenose dolphins, periodical cicadas, chimpanzees, and house finches. Dr. Richards joins our lab to work with the JP Chickadee Project, but his broad training and interests make him available for assisting and advising varied research endeavors.

AWARD

Undergraduate researcher, Zach Dykema, wins the Outstanding Graduating Senior (Male) award from NMU for 2017 for his independent research in Brazil (and soon Zambia), his research on chickadees and owls, and his impressive extra-curricular engagement with music and much more. Congrats, Zach!

GRANT

Masters student, Katie Bjornen, wins a competitive research grant from the Wilson Ornithological Society for her work looking at the potential Avian Foraging Response to Plant Volatile Organic Chemical Release. Congrats, Katie!

AWARD

Undergraduate researcher, Emily Bertucci (headed to University of Georgia for PhD program) won the outstanding graduating Biology Undergraduate Student award, in part for her work on owls and on juncos, and also her research in Zambia and Brazil. Congrats Emily!

GRANT

Graduate students James VanOrman, Samantha Phillips, and Katie Bjornen were selected as winners for the 2017 Excellence in Education grant awards. This will be a great help to each of their graduate thesis research projects. Congrats gang!

JOB

Undergraduate researcher Cody Selewski lands a job in Tennessee chasing Bobolinks and Dickcissels. Congrats, Cody! See you again in the fall!
