JP Chickadee Project

We have recently (Fall 2016) established a color-banded and RFID-tagged population of black-capped chickadees (Poecile atricapillus) that undergraduate and graduate students can use for studies of their own design (with input from me). I am interested in seeing this study system used for research on behavioral ecology, population ecology, community dynamics, communication systems, and more. The study area is close to campus, we have established sites with regularly observable birds, and we have long-term monitoring protocols in place. This is an excellent opportunity to join an active group of young researchers engaged in collaborative but individualized research.
