The Tactical Uniform configuration prescribes the authorized clothing, equipment, and identification requirements for agents participating in sustained, high-threat tactical operations, critical incident deployments, and extended-duration missions. This configuration is not designed for routine field duties or administrative tasks.

Authorized Users
The Tactical Uniform may be worn by Critical Incident Response Group personnel.
Authorized Situations
Critical incident deployments of tactical units.
High-risk warrant services, barricaded subjects, or tactical operations.
Tactical training events designated by command requiring full gear deployment.
Approval Requirements
Tactical Uniform may only be used during active CIRG deployments, explicitly designated by FBI Command or CIRG Divisional Command. Any deviation from the standard Tactical Uniform (including modified color schemes, alternate armor carriers, or nonstandard identification) must be approved by Command. Unauthorized use or display of the Tactical Uniform constitutes a uniform policy violation and may result in administrative action.

Full-Size Plate Carrier (Primary System)
A full-sized modular plate carrier setup in Multicam is required for load-bearing, equipment carriage, and ballistic protection. Visible FBI identification (patches) is required. Carrier must include a full-sized pouch configuration for sustainment and tactical tools.
Back Panel (Optional)
Tactical Belt
A tactical belt or battle belt in MultiCam or tan is required to carry the service weapon, handcuffs, magazines, medical kits, and other mission-essential tools.
Helmet System
Ballistic-rated tactical helmet in MultiCam/tan is required.
Other attachments, such as night vision, strobes, counterweights, and lights are recommended but not required.

Face Covering
Face protection (balaclava or mask) may be worn to protect identity and for environmental protection.
Personal Patches:
All operators are granted the freedom to wear personal patches that reflect department/unit culture on helmets and plate carriers, subject to the conditions outlined below:
All required FBI identification and unit markings must remain clearly visible on the front of the helmet and/or plate carrier at all times.
Personal patches must not obstruct, obscure, or interfere with identification or recognition.
Patches must be professional in appearance and consistent with FBI standards.
Patches containing offensive, political, extremist, or otherwise inappropriate imagery or messaging are prohibited. Official military, other agencies, or foreign country flag patches are prohibited.
The following are examples of patches that are generally acceptable when compliant with the above conditions:
