Criminal Investigative Division
The Criminal Investigation Division (CID) enables the FBI to investigate and manage major federal criminal investigations throughout the United States. CID uses investigative resources, intelligence capabilities, and operational expertise to tackle complex criminal activity requiring coordinated law enforcement action.
Mission
To investigate major criminal cases, gather intelligence, disrupt criminal operations, and handle reports.
Responsibilities
Conducting detailed investigations into major federal crimes.
Gather targeted intelligence from criminal organizations.
Infiltrate criminal organizations through covert operations.
Process tips and reports from partner agencies or other sources.
Providing Special Agents support in arrest through plainclothes operations.
