The Critical Incident Response Group (CIRG) is a specialized unit within the FBI Department tasked with responding to high-risk and critical incidents that require advanced tactical response, coordination, and operational expertise. CIRG is responsible for managing incidents including, but not limited to, hostage rescues, counter-terrorism operations, active shooter situations, mass casualty events, and high-risk arrests.
To formulate advanced strategies, manage terrorism, hostage situations, kidnappings, or high-risk situations, and if possible resolve them without loss of life.
Conducting routine and special audits to assess operational adherence.
Performing comprehensive inspections to ensure compliance with regulations.
Overseeing policy implementation and procedural adherence.
Providing recommendations to improve efficiency and effectiveness.

Overview
SWAT is the CIRG's operational force. They are generally tasked with executing high-risk arrests, raids, active shooter responses, and disaster management. Operators are trained specifically in CQB, open area combat, and non-lethal intervention.
Responsibilities
Responding to high-risk calls/SWAT calls that involve federal jurisdictions.
Assist local law enforcement with tactical response forces.
Conduct joint training exercises internally with FBI and externally.

Overview
Hostage Rescue Team is CIRG's elite tactical unit that specializes in complex hostage situations and high-risk rescue and entry missions. They are tasked with providing assistance as the assault/direct entry force during a barricaded suspect/hostage situation.

Secure and save the lives of hostages and civilians.
Provide direct-entry support in compounds when needed.
Combat terrorism, organized crime, and kidnappings.

Overview
Long-Range Intervention Team, or also known as sniper unit, is tasked with providing reconnaissance, information, and security to tactical units. Deployed in teams of 2, the spotter is responsible for providing close quarters defense, information, and reconnaissance, while the sniper is responsible for providing security to operators and intervening with a shot if needed.

Overview
Operational Support Unit primarily contains the CIRG's Tactical EMS sector. Support operators generally deploy and work with the tactical response team, but taking on extra roles. These roles include radio operation, technology reconnaissance and communication, and vehicle operation.

Provides logistical and medical support during CIRG deployments.
Directly assists with tactical response in high-risk calls/entry missions.
Ensure smooth communication via radio, dispatch, and field data management.

The CIRG Command team is responsible for overseeing all CIRG operations, deployments, and training. They ensure operational readiness for all operators within this department. Command will maintain clear and continuous communication with local agencies and federal authorities to ensure collaboration between agencies.
