Birthday present for my partner, redrawing a work of art from 5+ years ago. Focus on environmental mood, character design, and body language.
Practicing with style, rendering, and doing portraits without reference. First time doing a portrait of myself, especially without any reference and with only one layer to work on.
Christmas gift for my dear friend. I wanted to focus on portraying a character I know very little about, as well as rendering a cohesive background and environmental lighting. The goal was to make something cozy and rich with personality.
Made for an assignment in Digital Design, but with personal challenges given my own knowledge of digital art-making software. I wanted to experiment with using a grayscale layer and gradient maps.
A birthday gift for my partner. This was my first time trying out a more painterly style in an illustration, as well as drawing this type of anthropomorphic figure.
Character Designing
A design based on low-poly models of my & my partners characters. Since the two characters had existing 3d models, I instead explored their personalities rather than a full 360 view of each design.
A design for a fursona to push myself to be more comfortable in drawing animals in a stylized manner. Once again I explored personality, while examining the head in specific from multiple angles (borzois are weird little creatures and full fursuits are expensive).
An example of the most simplified form of a character design. I wanted to try out a small, cutesy style that doesn't take as long to finish. This style is common in merchandise, avatars, and emoticons. I wanted to explore how I would translate my "standard" style to something simple & cute to see if I could differentiate in potential pricing.
