Facilities Provided by the department of Zoology

Department of Zoology comprises of two laboratories, Teachers’ Room, Store Room cum laboratory Attendant’s Room.

Laboratory Facility

The Department of Zoology has recently set-up a separate laboratory facility for biochemistry practical where the other room has set-up with research equipment for molecular biology and cell biology research. Laboratories have adequate free space for students manoeuvring and fire safety facilities.

Department comprises two well-equipped laboratories. Out of the two laboratories one is ICT enabled (Laboratory 2; Room 208; 578 sq. ft) for imparting better, detailed and picturesque illustration of the academic/curricular topics to the students. This room can hold diverse curricular practical classes.

The other laboratory (Laboratory 1; Room 207; 372 sq. ft) is equipped with modern biochemical practical facilities. This room is also provided with an emergency evacuation window.

Instrumentation Facility

Instruments to carry on practical classes and research on different aspects of biological sciences are present in the department. Hand-on training for handling and maintaining the equipment are provided to the students. Following instruments are present in the departmental laboratories:

Computer Facility

The Department of Zoology provides two computer units with printing and scanning facilities to students, staff and faculty. Using the computers with internet facilities students and teachers can access open educational resources.

Museum

The Museum of Zoology is home to a great variety of formalin and resin preserved animals that are helpful to increase the knowledge on faunal diversity of the biosphere. Many permanent slides with microscopic specimens and their organs also add on to increase the comprehensive knowledge on the subject. Various skeletal model systems present in the department facilitate students to widen the knowledge on anatomy of the animals.

Department Library:

Departmental library serves as an important knowledge resource centre for students as well as for faculties of the department. A collection of 180 very old collectible books as well as newly arrived books covering previous and current syllabus for General and Multi-disciplinary course students, are available. The department provides open access to all books and internet facilities for the students. Department also provides Field Reports of students for reference.
