Departmental Activity
Curricular
Excursion: For each semester department organises local excursion as per the curriculum. Demonstration of the farm or culture system or the study area are arranged. They observe and collect the data to prepare the field or project report which they submit as part of their practical examination. These educational tours include:
§ Field Study – Biodiversity Study, Ecological Study
§ Visit to Poultry Farm – To know about the farming of Poultry Breeds and its importance in economic zoology.
§ Visit to Aquatic body – To know about the Fish and Prawn culture system of Poultry Breeds and its importance in economic zoology. Water parameter testing for aquaculture are done.
§ Visit to Indian Museum – Students are taken to Indian Museum to gain knowledge on evolution, adaptation, taxonomy, classification, fossilization and preparation of museum specimen.
Preparation of Field Report / Project Report: Students are guided by the faculties of the department for preparing their Project or Field Report.
Interaction with Students via Google Classroom, Google meet: Sharing of study material (in addition to college LMS) and addressing their query regarding the topic through google classroom and online meeting are done regularly.
Co-curricular
Visiting Zoological Garden – Regular visit to Zoological Garden, Alipore, Kolkata is done for the students to increase their awareness about biodiversity, conservation and its importance in today’s world.
Biodiversity study – Students are taken to local bird sanctuary to gain knowledge about local biodiversity and its conservation significance.

👉Department also organizes national Level / College Level Seminars and Awareness Programmes not only to increase the knowledge on the subject but also to develop management skills amongst the students.
👉Department publishes Bi-annual Wall magazines and annual e-magazine to encourage students to hone their creative skills.
👉Departmental students take part in many intra and inter college cultural and scientific competitions.
An Awareness Programme on "Wildlife Crime Scenario in India" 12th April, 2023, organized by Dept. of Zoology & IQAC.

Student Achievements 🏆
Mihika Banerjee of Semester has won the Poster Presentation Competition held on 13/11/2022, organized by “Anubhav – Expedition for better tomorrow” an organization that works towards the betterment of the environment and conservation. There were 361 participants from 5 Schools, 35 Colleges and 5 Universities for this Poster Competition.
A group of Bio-Science students, comprised of Puspita Samanta, Piu Basak, Sneha Mallick & Srinjana Mukherjee, have won the Quiz Competition, organized by IQAC, Acharya Jagadish Chandra Bose College, held on 19/12/2023.
