As a Donator
When you donate to the nonprofit Aisha with an Eye, all your money goes to funding The Guardian Project, which is focused on habitat-enhancing Burrowing Owl Billows in Shoreline Park.
Burrowing Owl Billows covers a stretch of California Native garden that is ~6840 square feet of Shoreline's 2 acre foraging habitat for the owls. It has the potential to extend all the way along the fence next to N Shoreline Blvd.
With more π°, we can line the whole park!
Check out the Donation Gifts page for more incentives to donate, but the best donation is simply given.
Here is how your donation is spent:
1 plant, on average, costs $11
+ discounts and taxes
For the 7th planting, I spent almost $555 on 55 plants.
But there are some small milkweeds from SoCal in the back this time. The local supply is low on milkweeds. The others are dormant (sleeping) local milkweeds for not just the owls, but the monarch butterflies, who are approaching extinction.
Here is where donations have come from in the past and how I've spent, literally, every penny (as of 2/19/2021 - see here for latest).
Each flag you see here marks one plant. Here's where we planted the above 55 plants. The owls are further back to your right from here.
But, as you can see below, not all the plants survive.
The plants donated through my nonprofit are also supplementary to the city's ongoing project to plant here, so there are also plants that have been added and/or eliminated outside of my project, but are still counted here.
Plants are also propagating on their own. β¨π±πππ½
