The next planting at Burrowing Owl Billows, Shoreline Park, Mountain View, California is:
Friday, December 13th
8am - Noon
If you'd like to sign up, respond to this email and I'll add you to the Calendar invite. This will allow us to plan accordingly and communicate any changes with you.
Children 12 and over are welcome with an accompanying adult or guardian, but you MUST RSVP so we bring the appropriate waivers.
Gloves and tools will be provided, but you'll need to wear sun protection, bring water, and wear pants + close-toed shoes. If it's wet, and hopefully it is because then digging is easier, rain boots are ideal.
For those coming with me in my van from LA, I'll be contacting you with more information separately.

Coo coo!
For those not stalki-urrr-following me on Instagram, I've been residing in Los Angeles to generate interest in saving the burrowing owls.
Why Los Angeles, you ask?
Well, Jim Carrey lives here and I'm campaigning for him to be PRESIDENT...
...of Aisha with an Eye, my 501c3 nonprofit that's been funding The Guardian Project.
Frankly, we need a lot more help with these owls than I've been able to garner using all my abilities in the Bay Area, Northern California.
Even though I haven't found Jim yet, I have:
Discovered that 10 burrowing owls appeared near the LA airport recently, which is more than we've got at Burrowing Owl Billows in Shoreline Park!
Attended the Youth Climate Strike at the beginning of this month and I will be attending the Good Money : "Amazon Uprising" : Dance Protest this Saturday in DTLA to collect those who want to do more!
Thrown 2 vegan potluck parties where we screened burrowing-owl-related videos: Why I'm Saving the Burrowing Owls and MPG Angela Farm- Burrowing Owls. The next one is this weekend and we're screening Hoot! You're invited!
And started making wings to grow our numbers until our campaign reaches Jim. Sign up if you're interested in joining us!
Phil, the biologist of Burrowing Owl Billows, and I have established the date for the next planting, so mark your calendars!
Friday
⭐️December 13th⭐️
I will be taking a crew from LA up to the Billows on the 12th and returning with the same crew on the 13th after the planting, so, if you're in LA and want to come, let me know. It'll be an adventure! Bay Area folks: I will provide more details in another week as to the exact time!
Coo coo!

But, Aisha, why the burrowing owls?
Well, friends, it was never a short story and always deserved your full, undivided attention, so now it brings me immense pleasure to finally present to you:
Stayed tuned until the end for a music-video recap of the project so far. You might be in it! I've also added a new page to theguardianproject.aishawithaneye.com called
that gives a photo-centric overview of the project to date.
If you've donated and haven't received your burrowing owl temporary tattoo sheet(s), please let me know! I'm about to go through my mountain of email and will be reaching out to those of you who have (and aren't anonymous).
️Happy Monday!

Good morning! ️☀️
This spring has been insane with the SUPERBLOOM happening across California, thanks to all the rain we got this winter. Check out the penstemon in full bloom at Burrowing Owl Billows!
Big Black Fence 🤺
You'll notice that there's a big black fence newly installed alongside the OTHER fence along the trail in Shoreline Park. Google donated the money for the fence to the City of Mountain View to help with the trespassers who've been doing things like letting their dogs off-leash to chase ground squirrels and flying their parasails in our burrowing owls' habitat.
If you notice any trespassers, please call the on-duty ranger: 650-930-6655
Also, please email me so I can keep track of what's going on!
Cats 🐈
Speaking of trespassers, the cats are no longer being fed and caught to be neutered by Google. I just saw one last week wandering along Steven's Creek Trail, near the burrowing owl habitat. This was not the ideal outcome for the Google vs. City of Mountain View "cat problem."
The ideal solution would have been for Google to continue feeding to catch and neuter the cats, but to find somewhere else to release them afterwards. I don't know exactly how they arrived at a worse situation than before the uproar, but I have my suspicions. There are also folks at Yahoo! who feed the cats at the Sunnyvale Landfill and who knows who else is involved. 🤦🏽♀️
If you have any ideas on how to solve this issue, please share! 😽
Weeds 🌱
Along with the beautiful flowers came bountiful weeds. Burrowing Owl Billows is starting to look quite hairy, so it's time for us to get our hands dirty and pluck those suckers out!
The next weeding is Friday, May 17th, from 8am to 10am. We'll meet at the Kite Lot in Shoreline Park and then walk over, but let me know if you're interested in coming out and I'll add you to the calendar invite with more details.
Only 18+ humans can participate in weedings. If you have young children who'd like to help, I'm currently figuring out how to do a rock-painting for kids. Let me know and I'll reach out to you when I'm planning the event.
How else can you help? 🙏
If you can't make the weeding, you don't live here, or would like to help without getting your hands dirty, here are several ways you can still participate:
Donate! Unlike other non-profits who don't share how they spend your dollars, you can see how I do here and see how the project is doing here. Everything goes to helping the owls and, if you disagree, you can comment in the tracker to help this project evolve!
If you're a Googler, go to go/aishawithaneye to donate and get matched.
If you're not a Googler, go to https://www.paypal.me/AishawithanEye/
Donations of $20+ receive a burrowing owl temporary tattoo as a gift! ($25+ if I need to ship to you to cover shipping and packaging costs)
Share! You can request from me to print you out a flyer to post at your desk or in front of your home. You can even hand them out to those you think might be interested. Let me know and I'll print them for you!
Report! Like I mentioned above, if you see anyone trespassing burrowing owl territory, call the on-duty ranger (650-930-6655) and email me!
Consume... less! This crazy weather is no good for the owls who rely on the stability of our climate to survive! Anything you do to consume less--less gas, less energy, less meat--helps! This issue we're having with climate-change isn't an easy problem to solve, but I believe if we try, we'll figure it out. Eventually.
Please let me know if you have any questions, concerns, complaints, ideas, etc!

A special thank you to my mom, brother, Allison, and Rick for coming out to help Phil and I weed on Friday!
The next opportunity to help out in-person will be the fifth planting in the spring--April or later, after the city installs the black chain-link fence to help protect the owls.
Otherwise, stay tuned for when I release the next set of fundraising material!

Hello!
No one signed up for Tuesday's weeding last week, so I moved the date to next Friday the 22nd from Noon-1:30pm. I'm hoping there will be more folks who can attend at this time.
If you can attend, please email me back and I'll send you the calendar invite with more details.
In order to recruit more volunteers, I've created this flyer. Even if you can't make the weeding, could you please help spread the word?

For those of you who are new, I'm Aisha and welcome to The Guardian Project. This is a project I've created under my 501(c)(3) non-profit "Aisha with an Eye" to help save the burrowing owls here in the heart of Silicon Valley (Mountain View), Northern California, US of A. The purpose of "Aisha with an Eye" is to "rebuild our planet and achieve world peace."
This is a burrowing owl:
Now, onto updates! ✨
At the end of 2018, I dark-launched this website (you're on it)! Basically, that means I did it, and then I never bothered to tell you because there's still more I'd like to add. #perfectionistproblems However, it's good enough to share now, so I suggest you check out the "What are burrowing owls?" page because it's adorable and might make you wanna jump in and help if you haven't already.
In November, we planted 50 California-native plants for the 4th planting at Burrowing Owl Billows in Shoreline Park--mostly different types of sages--and we did it on the day with the worst air quality during the worst fires (hence the face masks).
Jen, Violet, and Cory are real heroes for coming out to help Phil and I. The owls thank you!
And Jen deserves a special thank you for preparing our plant-based fuel!
It's rained a bunch since then, so it's time to weed Burrowing Owl Billows again and we need volunteers!
Our next weeding is scheduled for next week, Tuesday, February 5th, from noon-1:15pm.
All you need are close-toed shoes and sun protection. Gloves and tools will be provided. If you can come, please email me (aishawithaneye@gmail.com) and I'll add you to the calendar invite that contains information on when and where to meet us.
In other news, the owls are dying out faster than a few dozen plants added every other season will save. Phil and the city have started building a (bigger and uglier) fence at Burrowing Owl Billows because people keep ignoring the signs and walking their dogs off-leash in the areas for the owls. Google and the city have been trying to come to an agreement on what to do about the feral cats, but, in the meantime, there are still feral cats. On top of this, there is no sign that Google and Microsoft won't continue expanding outwards with their land development, which is the number one cause for the decline in their populations.
In other words, we need more help. We need a lot more help.
There is only one man who I can think of who is powerful enough to create the impact we need to save these creatures:
Ace Ventura. Aka. Jim Carrey.
I have been attempting to get in contact with Jim. At the end of the summer, I tried ringing his doorbell, but whoever answered (probably an assistant) hung up as soon as I said, "Hi! Is Jim home?" At the end of the fall, I tried calling his agent, but his agent hung up as soon as I said, "Hi! Is this [Jim Carrey's agent]?" Just a few weeks ago, Jim posted a twitter contest for his followers to color in his doodle. On his birthday, I tweeted him this:
I doubt he saw it, because, by then, he'd already picked a winner.
Nevertheless, with each attempt my will to reach him only grows stronger and my efforts more creative. Next, I will try summoning him with a song I post to Youtube. At this rate, it's only a matter of time before he'll grant me an audience... at least.
Anyway, please let me know if you can help weed next Tuesday! WE NEED VOLUNTEERS!
Goodnight! 🌙
