Utilizing your shipment allowance

1. What are household goods?

1) Tangible goods and products used within the household;

2) Movable personal property placed in rooms within an accommodation.

There are some restricted and prohibited items that cannot be included in your shipment as per customs regulations. Refer to the links below for more information:

3. Allowance & coverage

Agoda will cover the following household items shipment for our employees under the following criteria:

A) Max. 15 cbm for single expat relocation

B) Max. 30 cbm for expats moving with dependents

C) Shipment insurance (IF the Total Declared Insured Value of your shipment does not exceed USD 100,000)

If the value is greater than USD 100,000, you will have to bear the excess insurance cost

Remark: Musical instruments (i.e. piano, guitar, keyboard) and sporting equipment (i.e. bicycle, tennis racket, golf club) will incur Thai import duties. You will need to bear the costs if you would like to include such items in your shipment.

4. Should I select the shipping option?

If you are only looking to bring along a small quantity of personal items, such as clothing, books, toys, and toiletries, it may be faster and more cost efficient to purchase additional baggage on your flight to Bangkok.

Agoda will allow reimbursement for purchase of up to 2 additional baggage (up to 46 kgs.) if you choose not to opt for the shipping option

Remark: Shall you select the shipping option, please inform us as soon as possible. Moving companies may be fully booked on your requested survey or packing dates, especially during April towards July.

The process at a glance

Important: Please note that the expected timeline for the entire process is 2-3 months, possibly longer due to unforeseen circumstance. If you have any urgently needed belongings, we suggest taking them along on your flight.

Please ensure to utilize your shipment within the first three months of your arrival date in the hiring country to avoid unnecessary import tax which will be on your own expenses.

Contact shipping company

Once you've made a decision to utilize our shipping service, let us know by sending an email to onboarding@agoda.com! We will provide you more instruction and initiate the case with our shipping vendors.

Pre-move survey

A couple of shipping company representatives may visit your house to estimate the total volume of items to be packed. Once done, we will review the quotes and approve one company to handle your move.

Packing

The approved shipping company will arrange and confirm their packing plan & date with you. If you will not be present on the packing day, please make sure that you have a representative who can be there on your behalf.

Shipment arrival at Thai port

Once your shipment arrives, you will need to provide your original passport and a copy of your digital Thai work permit to complete shipment customs clearance. This will take around 5-7 working days.

Delivery

Once customs clearance is completed, your shipment will be delivered. You can store your items up to 1 month. If the storage is extended further, you will bear storage extension costs.

Remark: If any of your items are damaged, you must file your claims with the moving company within one month of delivery date.
