Bringing a Pet to Thailand

Note: The purpose of this guide is to help our employees understand the process and prepare for pet relocation. You will be fully responsible for your pets' relocation arrangements to Thailand. Employee can reimburse any expenses related to pet transportation up to 2000 USD in total per employee.

Pet relocation process

Prepare documents

1) Pet passport

- Signed in country of origin by a registered vet indicating name, breed, sex, etc.

2) Copy of passport belonging to the owner or person who is travelling with your pet

3) Microchip certificate

4) Vaccination certificate

- Must be signed or endorsed by a registered veterinarian 21 days prior to departure; for more details, visit this link
- Must be in English

5) Application form (R1/1 form)

6) Clear pet photo (with color)

7) Flight itinerary

Note: Check with your local authority about documents for pet import or export process.

Request import permit

1) Scan the documents (above) and send them to qsap_bkk@dld.go.th

- Please make sure you do this within 60 days, but no less than 7 days prior to departure date.

2) Receive import permit package and print it out

- If any additional information is required, the officer will contact you by email.
- If you do not get a response within 3 days, contact the Animal Quarantine Station via telephone: +662-134-0731 or +662-134-0636.

3) Obtain health certificate

- Health certificate obtained must be issued by an authorized body of the exporting country responsible for import and export of animals.
- Remark: If you are looking to relocate your pet from the USA, you need to present your import permit package to a USDA accredited vet. The health certificate issued needs to be endorsed (countersigned and embossed/ stamped) by APHIS.

Pet relocation to Bangkok

1) Arrange for a flight to travel with your pet (if possible)

- Don't forget to bring all documents onboard with you!

2) Arriving at the Thailand airport

- While going through customs clearance, be prepared to present your pet along with documents to the Veterinary Officer.
  - - - Carried Pet: AQS office next to carousel No. 8 in arrival hall.
      - Air Cargo Pet: AQS office next on 1st floor of CE-1 Building, Duty Free Zone.
- Pay entry fees (THB 500 for DLD & THB 1,000 for Thai Customs)

3) Receive Import License & Approval

Your pet(s) cannot stay with you during your quarantine. Here are some pet hotels that will help take care of your pet(s) from your landing until your quarantine is completed.
