Coronaviruses are generally associated with mild to moderate upper respiratory-tract infections, like the common cold. As of now, spillover events from animal to human have given rise to seven known human Coronaviruses; HCoV-NL63, HCoV-229E, HCoV-OC43 and HCoV-HKU1 cause mild respiratory illnesses, while newer Coronaviruses like SARS-CoV, MERS-CoV, and SARS-CoV-2 can cause severe respiratory illnesses.
