Species from different genera branched close together:
Avian coronavirus (HQ853289), a Gammacoronavirus, and Murine coronavirus (NC_012936), a Betacoronavirus, are branched right next to each other, indicating a close phylogenetic and/or evolutionary relationship.
Species from different genera branched closer together than the same species themselves:
Avian coronavirus (KR605488), a Gammacoronavirus, and Pipistrellus bat coronavirus HKU5 (NC_009020), a Betacoronavirus, are branches right next to each other, indicating a close phylogenetic and/or evolutionary relationship. In fact the Pipistrellus bat coronavirus HKU5 is closer to the Avian coronavirus than it is to another Pipistrellus bat coronavirus HKU5 (KJ473820).
Wigeon coronavirus HKU20 (NC_016995), a Deltacoronavirus, is branched closer to Avian coronavirus (HQ853289), a Gammacoronavirus, and Murine coronavirus (NC_012936), a Betacoronavirus, than it is to other Deltacoronaviruses.
Same species are scattered or "split apart":
Severe acute respiratory syndrome-related coronavirus (KY352407) in the Rhinolophus, is closer to the Middle East respiratory syndrome-related coronavirus (MK796425) in the human, and the Middle East respiratory syndrome-related coronavirus (MN507638) in the Lama glama, than it is to other SARS-related viruses, including the SARS virus (FJ588686) in the Rhinolophus sinicus, the SARS virus (GU553363) in the human, and the SARS virus (GU553365) in the Chlorocebus aethiops.
Interestingly, all other species EXCEPT the Severe acute respiratory syndrome-related coronavirus 2, a novel Betacoronavirus, are "split apart":
All Severe acute respiratory syndrome-related coronavirus 2 (MT457401, MT811522, NC_045512, MT709104, MT270814, MT365033) sequences are grouped together.
