NOTE: MEDIA PASSES AND PHOTOGRAPHY PASSES ARE ONLY VALID FOR PIT ACCESS AND ACCESS TO THE MEDIA CENTER. THEY ARE NOT VALID FOR BACKSTAGE OR ON-STAGE ACCESS. 

MEDIA CREDENTIAL PICK-UP

Confirmation of your approved press credentials will be sent via email, along with further instructions for attaining your credential. Media check-in will depend on the event, and will be included in the instructions you receive.

DEADLINE TO SUBMIT MEDIA CREDENTIAL REQUEST HAS BEEN EXTENDED UNTIL FRIDAY, APRIL 12, at 5:00 P.M. CST.

Credentials will be approved based on the following criteria:

Publication, Station or Media Outlet affiliation. Assignment by a legitimate media outlet to cover the festival. Credentials will be issued to those on assignment only. Family members or guests will not be considered for credentials (include assignment request on company letterhead or from legitimate email stating scope of work).

Due to space limitations, only digital properties having a national or regional focus will be considered.

PHOTO PASSES

All photographers and videographers must agree to the Africa in April standard photo release and sign the form before receiving a photo pass. In part, the standard photo policy during the Festival outlines that the first three songs by a performer can be shot from the stage pit by approved photographers. This policy is subject to change and advance approval is required by each individual artist.

Our press team will notify photographers at the festival of any further restrictions or modifications, and occasionally additional photography release forms must be signed by photographers before extended access is granted. Photographers who are granted a media credential and photo pass must agree to abide by all festival policies and understand that policies are subject to change.

DRONE USE

Per the Memphis Police Department, Africa in April is the only organization granted permission to fly a drone during the festival. All other drones and operators will be immediately removed from the park. We will not approve the organization’s media credential request next year.

ARTIST INTERVIEWS

Africa in April Festival does not assist in arranging interviews with performers at the Festival Musical Entertainment. Reporters bear the sole responsibility of arranging interviews through artist publicists. As a convenience, Africa in April will provide, upon request, a list of artists’ publicists to qualified media outlets. If permission is granted, the reporter must confirm all arrangements with the publicist including notification of approval to the artist’s tour or road manager who will provide the reporter access to the interview at the Festival. 

Approved interviews will require artists’ management to supply passes and credentials to the approved reporter. Those approved passes will be distributed at ‘ARTIST WILL-CALL.’ Africa in April Festival assumes no responsibility for artist’s guest lists and its omissions. Africa in April Festival DOES NOT provide backstage access for artist interviews.
