Hey all,
We are needing to finalize numbers for our Annual Advanced Mixed Chorus Camp Trip. 1st and 3rd period students are all encouraged to attend. Every year, students without fail say it's the highlight of the season.
If your student is planning on attending, I will talk with them the next two days in class and finalize. I am asking for families that do not plan on their child participating to email me back and let me know this week. If they are in advanced mixed, we ask that this be a priority for families without other commitments. I have attached an itinerary so families can see what we do that weekend.
We will take care of students with allergies/dietary restrictions.
The weekend is $90 dollars and that covers transportation, food, lodging, snacks, etc. (we can help financially, let us know if that is needed!)
It is not logged as an absence, but as "present off-site" for an educational opportunity. It will not affect exam exemptions.
If you are a parent interested in chaperoning, let me know and I will also let you know how many slots are available after the final numbers are sent in this weekend. It is "roughing it" in some ways, but you with some amazing students and we do have a blast.
Looking forward to giving detail and direction for the year in person on Monday at the Informance (6-7pm)

Hi Team!
What a week- we took care of logistics in class: binders are (mostly) organized, music passed out, literacy books in full swing... we are starting off strong! What a gift it is to make music with the coolest students...
Some reminders/updates:
Our Chorus Informance is Monday September 14th from 6-7pm.
This will help new chorus families (and old) get all the information needed to be successful with chorus.
This event is required for all chorus students and families! This is our only required event for the fall, other than our Winter Concert in December.
AFHS Chorus Leadership Teams have been decided! So thankful to these students for applying to help keep our program healthy and strong. Review the attachment for student positions.
I have also attached a list of students who will represent AFHS Chorus to audition for our NC Honors Chorus. Students will need to pay the $25 registration fee to the boosters by next Thursday, September 10th if they are auditioning! Money can be paid via Check, Cash, or CutTime.
Non-school related thoughts... How can you show up for yourself this weekend? Do you need some rest, or maybe dinner with a good friend? Perhaps going on a walk and touching some grass? Singing your favorite songs in the shower at full blast? Take care of yourself this weekend and do something to remember how cool it is that we are on this planet at the same time! (I suggest turning of social media for 24 hours... it is life changing!)

It feels like Christmas Eve at 7 years old. The amount of anticipation, mystery, and joy that surrounds this week is exactly how I feel about this year... it is time for the MAGIC and the first day was AWESOME!
A few important things...
I sent home a packet for families- Green forms come back by Friday! First class to have them all in get a prize. First Period is ready to get them all in tomorrow... just saying.
I have a contact form at the top of the first green page. Complete that asap so I can help get the year going.
