Can you go over your experience designing fire apparatus?
Glenn is only in the probationary period but Nate has been doing this for many years, from California to New York. He also is on a department in upstate NY that has many Toyne trucks.
Specs list a 750 gallon tank not 1000. I believe we will only entertain 1000 gallon options as it was one of the top priorities listed in the provided feature request list. How do you plan to increase the water capacity without lengthening the truck?
The truck will be 1000 and the hose bed will raise slightly (already much lower than other vendors) without any lengthening.
What are the advantages of going with Shakerly/Toyne?
Both are smaller companies and they have been aligned for 18 years. Communication between the companies is on a first name basis.
Can you address how we would handle a problem with our new truck? How is determined if the issue is with Spartan or with Toyne?
All issues will go through Shakerly which will coordinate proper assessment by the responsible vendor.
Can use explain the location of the crosslays as it is something we are not familiar with. What are the advantages and disadvantages of this location?
Most like it. No trays, single row load. Nate says it is robust despite appearances. Advantages are low height which can also be a negative if loading on shoulder.
We are considering a TFT remote controlled main intake due to ease of operation from panel, repair options and potential cost savings. Thoughts? Can it be engineered to eliminate or at least greatly minimize the amount it sticks out? This has and continues to be an issue given our tight quarters.
This can be done. Will look into it with engineering.
Is there a "map box" included on the engine tunnel?
Yes, one will be there.
What are the options for maximizing ready access and storage for EMS? External/internal access behind driver/officer or back wall?
Much like the other vendors, thought moving rear-facing seats to center of back wall and being forward facing with cabinets in place of the other seats. Both inside and outside access. Still would have PAC board on rear wall nearest the doors.
Speak to seating specs: brand rationale; seat belt improvements; scba retainer improvements; material choice
Bostrom 500 Series Sierra with smart dock scba retainers
Door handles - both exterior and interior. Not happy with those on E2.
no issue with what was shown
What is the first step height for the cab?
18"
I personally would like to see the truck equipped with the Dual Dynamics Crossfire dual tire pressure equalization system. Thoughts?
Said most removed after 1 year due to issues. Said were expensive.
Can you provide an intake flowmeter that shows how much water has come into the apparatus?
Never heard of something like that but would look into.
Do you recommend one emergency lighting vendor over others for this truck? Why?
Whelen is spec'd.
Do you have a location for the 17' Little Giant Defender ladder?
Above ladder storage in hose bed with a stop and strap.
Other notes/suggestions:
Toyne uses: SS, 1 piece grab rails; open grate rear step; tool-less access to pump house; lift-up drain valves instead of 1/4 turn
