Can you go over your experience designing fire apparatus?
Jason has worked on around 175 truck designs.
The drawing shows a 730 gallon tank and foam onboard. The specs say 1000 and no foam. In fact, there are many discrepancies between the drawing and the spec. Please explain.
The design drawing has not yet been released from the factory showing the current specs listed as they were waiting on our decision to go with speedlays over the crosslay configuration. Jason will send it when it has been completed.
What are the advantages of going with Allegiance and Pierce?
New focus on mobile service and part stock at Allegiance and Pierce is expanding.
Can you address how we would handle a problem with our new truck? What can be done on site?
Service is the primary focus of the new company (formerly Minuteman) and Jason would facilitate all requests.
Can use explain the location of the crosslays. Your truck is the only one to have them where they are What are the advantages and disadvantages of this location?
We decided to change the configuration and add the speedlays even though it would add length. The existing crosslays could still be used for one 2 1/2" and possibly move the booster line as well.
We are considering a TFT remote controlled main intake due to ease of operation from panel, repair options and potential cost savings. Thoughts? Can it be engineered to eliminate or at least greatly minimize the amount it sticks out? This has and continues to be an issue given our tight quarters.
Easily done
Is there a "map box" included on the engine tunnel?
Yes
What are the options for maximizing ready access and storage for EMS? External/internal access behind driver/officer or back wall?
Jason had 2 ideas, the first being what the other vendors suggested. His second option though was to keep the rear facing seats and add an ems compartment to the middle of the back wall with side access doors.
Speak to seating specs: brand rationale; seat belt improvements; scba retainer improvements; material choice
Pierce uses the own branded seating, spec'd with "ReadyReach" seat belts and a hands-free SCBA mount (no levers or pull strings)
Door handles - both exterior and interior. Not happy with those on E2.
No issue - but noted that Pierce does use steel rods on the internals instead of a "rubberband" type approach used by most other manufacturers. No stretching or opening issues down the road
What is the first step height for the cab?
18-19"
I personally would like to see the truck equipped with the Dual Dynamics Crossfire dual tire pressure equalization system. Thoughts?
Very commonly used and no horror stories to speak of. About $300 to add.
Can you provide an intake flowmeter that shows how much water has come into the apparatus?
Will look into as he has not yet done that.
Do you recommend one emergency lighting vendor over others for this truck? Why?
Whelen due to very good company service and lifetime fire service warranty.
Do you have a location for the 17' Little Giant Defender ladder?
Still working on it but did recommend a Alco-Lite CJL which is easier to store as it does not have the flared legs. (see below)
Other notes/suggestions:
Add Waterous valves (brass ball) throughout truck for easier opening and less maintenance with problem water.
Truck would be built in FL not WI due to Saber chassis. Can put enforcer grille on Saber.
