Dave –
I hope all is well sir. Attached below is the shop order specification with the modifications we made during our last meeting. I am still waiting on the general arrangement drawing from the factory. In the meantime , please review the contents of the shop order specification at your earliest convenience. As recap, the items we modified to the last spec rendition are as follows:
Added engine enclosure mounting plate
Added map book storage holder
Added front bumper trash line, plumbed to 2-1/2”
Modified the driver side forward fender storage compartment to an open storage slot
Modified the hose load capacity as follows (from left to right): 300’ 2-1/2” preconnect, 300’ 2-1/2” preconnect, 300’ 1-3/4” preconnect, 800’ 4” LDH
Added Pac-Trac mounting board to rear interior cab wall, on the driver side and officer side outboard forward facing seat positions
Added flowmeters to the driver side LDH discharge and officer side LDH discharge
Modified the cab to the MFD style cab
Increased the critical overall length restriction to 32’
Modified the rear step compartment door to a hinged style door in lieu of a roll-up door
The Q2B siren is now fully recessed in the front bumper
Modified the seating configuration. The two (2) rear facing seat positions now have internally accessible EMS compartments with external access doors. The two (2) rear crew seats are now in the forward facing inboard position.
Modified the foam system to the gravity fed eductor style foam system
Moved the rear body panel discharges inside the hose bed. There are now three (3) discharges inside the hose bed at the front bulkhead: two (2) offset to the driver side, one (1) offset to the officer side.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to give me a call.
Sincerely,
Marc Mazza, Sales Representative

What are the advantages of going with Bulldog/Ferrara?
The advantage of going with Bulldog/Ferrara is the long personal relationships both have. Bulldog is an expanding company. They are building a new facility in Latham that will double the square footage allowing for better service and more on-hand part inventory. Four new road repair trucks have been purchased with 2 of them staffed full time and another newer tech getting training to be out in the third. Marc also mentioned that Ferrara is one of the only vendors that uses hard wired electric systems rather than multiplex or computer-based systems.
Can you address how Ferrara intends to handle not only its production but the addition of KME production at it facility? Will there be separate lines?
REV has addressed work flow, labor and part placement inefficiencies in the Ferrara plant which will allow for a separate KME line to exist at the Holden, LA facility without causing issues with the Ferrara line. Employment numbers are reported by Marc to be up 40% as well.
A 30 gallon foam tank is included in this design. We may not add foam to this truck. How would this impact space and budget? Since the spec doesn't include air, what do you see as the advantage of having foam and not CAFS?
Marc suggested keeping the 30 gallon foam tank but instead plumbing a gravity fed line to the panel. From there a kit would be used to attach an injector from the panel to whatever discharge you would want to use. The cost saving would be high with a system like described being around $3800 instead of starting in the teens. This would also reduce maintenance.
Can you tell us anything about the rust issues on T4 and why we should believe that we would not have a similar issue with this truck? Was there a problem with the F-Shield application or was it something else? Also, I believe we went with red not black F-Shield on the frame to allow for easier visual inspection/leaks.
Addressed the quality of the F-Shield corrosion protection but added that Bulldog includes an application of an oil product sprayed on the undercarriage at no cost for the initial application. Subsequent applications would be around $1200. T4's actual rust issue was not know to Marc.
We are considering a TFT remote controlled main intake due to ease of operation from panel, repair options and potential cost savings. Thoughts? Can it be engineered to eliminate or at least greatly minimize the amount it sticks out? This has and continues to be an issue given our tight quarters.
Easily done and usually spec'd to 0. Offered an alternative to the TNT product; Akron Revolution low profile
Is there a "map box" included on the engine tunnel?
One can be; will look up different configurations for approval
What are the seating configuration options in the cab to maximize cab-based storage for EMS? External/internal access behind driver/officer or back wall?
Long discussion about potential seating options; Ultimately since the spec'd truck was only 30"2", decision was made to go to a MFD cab which would add 9"; this would make EMS cabinets easier to place where the rear facing outboard seats would normally be. Will have to check on the officer's side air intake.
Speak to seating specs: brand rationale; seat belt improvements; scba retainer improvements; material choice
Prefers Valor seats and IMMI brand; will have seatbelt retractor and scba retainer that requires no user input to exit other than leaning forward
Door handles - both exterior and interior. Not happy with those on E2.
Handles will be similar to those on the spec'd E-One but horizontal
What is the first step height for the cab?
18"; If desired a flexible hanging step is available
The spec references Turtle Tile on all shelves but only the floor of L2 and R2. Why only these compartments? Bumper tray? Other?
The other compartments have a pullout tray spec'd which will be lined with the product
I personally would like to see the truck equipped with the Dual Dynamics Crossfire dual tire pressure equalization system. Thoughts?
Not sure but I believe Marc misunderstood the product that was described for one that balances all of the tires on the truck and is very expensive, That is not what the Crossfire is.
Can you provide an intake flowmeter that shows how much water has come into the apparatus?
Yes, engineering would be able to accommodate that request
Do you recommend one emergency lighting vendor over others for this truck? Why?
While Whelen is spec'd, recommends SoundOff lighting if budget needs trimming
Do you have a location for the 17' Little Giant Defender ladder?
Possibly theL3/B1 area
Although we did not choose to have you present the KME because of the perceived challenges associated with the plant closures at KME, do you have any information you wish to present that you feel would change our minds?
Did not speak to the KME option but rather stayed focused on making the Ferrara spec exactly as desired. Was asked to give us a price and was hesitant until it is more finalized. Estimated "under 7"
