Proof is Alex's first show as a Stage Manager at Pima, but their third show overall. They were in charge of the actors, taking notes, communicating with designers and actors, delegating responsibilities to their two assistant stage managers while training one of them. They called the show and made sure the two assistants would be able to call at least one show as well.
While stage managing, they also worked on the video design with another designer. Both Alex and the second designer used this time to train 2-3 other technicians on how to do the work. Alex specifically mapped out the projection onto the house while removing with windows and door as negative space. They focused their design on one scene with video that was made with many overlapping elements.
During one show night, the video projections began to fail. We're not sure what had caused it to fail but while troubleshooting at the computer first, all while still calling the show, they realized the projector and the computer needed to be reset. In order to do this, they needed to cover the projector lens as to not project any images not needed during the show. They called one of the operators on the phone, put on headphones, and snuck onto the cat walk where they covered the lens with a paper plate, called two cues from the cat walk, and reset the projector while the operator reset the computer. This fixed the problem; everything ran smoothly after that.

For Cabaret, the Lighting Designer allowed Alex to design multiple scenes/musical numbers. It was a show where isolation and extreme emotions played a big part in the design. They were in charge of hanging and focusing lights, programming the light board, programming cues, and fixing any issues that came up. They were in charge of fixing the Bluetooth DJ Par Lights for the fake proscenium set piece when the board refused to acknowledge them as an LED light. This included finding the right brand to place them under and making sure the DMX connection was always working to insure the light board had control.

Role : Female Lead, Video Designer, Asst. Lighting, Co-Writer
Ballet & Bagels was written by the Principles of Dramatic Structure class in Spring 2022. It was set to be the first show of Pima's season as the children's show. Alex's main role was to edit but they helped write scenes where the Abuela was present.
This was their first production as the main lead! They were extremely blessed to get the role and had a wonderful time getting to know the amazing cast and crew. They have never danced ballet before but do have experience with folklorico. Alex and their Understudy were made the dance captains and helped everyone learn their parts. As long as time allows, they might be joining the Ballet classes at Pima as they enjoyed learning.
For Video Design, there were three windows as projection screens. They had to hang 3 projectors, map all 3 screens, figure out how to get the connections working for them to connect to the computer and onto qlab, create gradients to signify time changes, add fade-in/out cues and insert videos to play alongside the Sound Design.

During the production of Sun Serpent, Alex worked as the assistant Video Designer and helped paint the walls of the projection surfaces. This was their first production at Pima Community College in Tucson, AZ
Qlab was used to map surfaces onto the projection screens as well as designing fade-in/out cues and moving objects.
