Aesca: A Dark Wind is in concept stage currently. I am working on theme, systems, layouts and then bringing it to a MU. It's a blend of magic, fantasy, technology and myths as two separate worlds are once more linked and how players can grow their realms, reclaim what was lost and collaboratively fight their way against a world pitted against them. You will play an elf within the competing Courts vying for power and supremacy to influence Queen Aelfwynn and the March as worlds of magic and science are colliding and only one will win.
"It's been three generations since the Dark Wind was felt across the world, and our peoples were scattered as their faith faltered. The old gods have gone silent and in their absence cults and mysteries have filled the void in our souls as we attempt to claim our birthright and rule once more the world. Our allies haven't been heard or seen for over a thousand years and while we wait, we will rebuild.
Our people have not only lost their empire, but we've also lost our history. We will once more become the Light to the world. Where shadow lurks, we will cleanse it."
- Journal of Uthorim Yelgella, First Light of the Truthkeepers
The world of Aesca is one where magic exists, however technology is much more medieval. It's a dark world with raiding orcs of the Black Hand, abominations lurking in dark forests of amber, oceans frozen in jade and darkness encroaching all around. Records beyond the Dark Wind are sketchy with most ancient knowledge lost in the chaos, and it leaves the elves of Aesca struggling to understand what has happened and the total destruction the event caused.
And now strange portals seem to be opening, linking a strange foreign world filled with terrors and cruelty but also rich in resources not readily available in Aesca. Of rumors that a nation long thought destroyed coming back.
Aesca is alive, magic intertwines within her core as she calls you, the elves on a quest: explore and claim your history as you reclaim Aesca, find the Legion of Shadows and seek to fight the encroachment of Gaia's poison which will destroy the planet.
There has always been stories and myths of magic, gods being real and terrors. However, as time moved on especially with the Renaissance, humanity replaced those beliefs with science. Occasionally, a faith healer or miracle is attributed to some belief system, but Earth has been truly transformed through the impact of technology that science has birthed. Capable of incredible destruction on a mass scale, sculpting the land so that vehicles can transport at incredible speeds, the vast flow of information at an unprecedented availability and speed; technology has destroyed magic in humans. However, humans have the unique ability to use electricity, harness the atom and other wonders that magic simply cannot do.
But lately, unexplained things have been happening. Strange things. Where people say they're abducted by aliens, where monsters of folklore appear, where folks go missing and crazy conspiracies of an unseen group controlling the real world are hinted at. How climate change is rapidly creating problems for everyone as resources begin to drain away.
Gaia is alive, science and technology is bound to her core as she calls you, the humans on a quest: find and bring back the Holy Order of Supreme's Light and help fight against the warped and twisted chaos of Aesca which will destroy the planet.
