TIPS
Optimizing Your Instagram Business Account
You can optimize your account with these simple tips you can easily implement today! Instagram is one of the leading social media platforms where potential clients find their service providers. Potential clients are constantly using Instagram to search on, like to google, using location, keywords, and hashtags. After optimizing your account, you would be found more easily due to instagram's new algorithm.
TIP #1 - USERNAME
Your username should not be your name. This is where you will use your business name. Before selecting your business name, you should do a search to see if it is taken on government trademarks to avoid legal repercussions. You can also search to see if it is being used on instagram. If you wish to use a business name that is not trademarked but taken on social media, you can choose to use a variation of the name. If you have multiple employees, service providers, or are in a partnership - you can use your name and business name in the username (ex. @businessname.firstname, @firstname.businessname, @businessname_firstname, @firstname_businessname)
TIP #2 - NAME
Do not put your business name in this field, instead - use your first name + service/location keywords. Please note, this can only be changed every 14 days. (ex. EMILY | AGAWAM, MA Facials + Skincare)
TIP #3 - CATEGORY
We recommend using "Product/Service" or "Cosmetic & Personal Care" for a business in the beauty industry. Instagram is constantly updating these categories, so look through and choose the closest one that applies to your business.
TIP #4 - PROFILE PHOTO
Instead of using a logo, use a photo of you. This helps with the like + know factor (the ability to allow a potential client or customer to get to know you) and see who you are. They can't see you if you simply have a logo. Use a photo with good lighting, natural filter (if used), professional looking (even take a photo in your room or studio), and SMILE. Be welcoming!
TIP #5 - DESCRIPTION / BIO
Keep your bio simple, easy to read, and to the point. You want your potential client to immediately learn about you and/or what you have to offer. It can be made up to about 4 lines (keep in mind only a limited about of characters are allowed; avoid using technical terms or abbreviations and never assume everyone will understand - avoid ex. LE "licensed esthetician", PMU "permanent makeup")
Line 1 - Business tagline, Benefits each client will have as a whole, or goal
Line 2 - Number of certifications, Licensed, Years licensed, &/or # of total clients/customers helped
Line 3 - Services you offer (main or specialty) or payment plans
Line 4 - Call to action (ex. book now, now accepting new clients, waitlist, free consultation)
TIP #5 - LINK
Where can your potential customer or client learn more about your services or schedule an appointment? Use your link tree, website, or booking link
TIP #6 - ADDRESS
This is a must have! If a potential customer/client visits your page, they want to see if you're local. If you don't have an address listed, they won't be able to tell if you are local!
(Instagram business account > Settings > Other Contact Options)
TIP #6 - HIGHLIGHT FOLDERS
Use as a tool for potential clients to easily access information, learn more about products/services, or results of said services.
1. "Book With Me" (How to book, Videos, Payment Plan Options, introduce yourself)
2. Service you specialize in
3. Results/Healed
4. Client Love (testimonials, screen shots, tagged photos/videos, selfies, reviews)
5. Studio (behind the scenes, room/studio tour, where to park)
6. FAQ
7. Other Services
TIP #7 - PINNING POSTS
Pinning your posts will cause that post to stay on the top of your feed at all times. This is beneficial if you have high converting content, content you want others to see more of, etc. Examples (video tour, video/photo of who you are, service collage video)
