Discussion of the lesson
This is the last video of one my lessons that I had to teach. The main point of the lesson was to tell them about swimming coming up and the necessary precautions that they were going to have to take to be safe. This was an adapted class so they need to know the pool was dangerous and they needed to be careful. So, I took time to talk about them needing to walk and not mess around.
It is important to give clear and concise instructions when talking to these students to ensure their safety. Therefore, I wanted to outline the rules and procedures that were going to follow. It helps with active engagement and emotional well-being of these students. They are very hesitant to go in the pool so they needed me to talk about how they will be safe and we will be there for them. By doing this, I believe that I created a safe environment for them that they will enjoy.
I learned that adapted classes are enjoyable and rewarding, yet you need to be alert. There is always something happening and the teacher needs to be on high alert. It helped in my development by outline procedures and being aware of my classroom. By telling them the rules, they knew exactly what to expect from me and the pool. In my future classroom, I will do the same thing when going in the pool no matter what kind of kids will be with me.

Discussion of Math units
During my long term substitute teaching assignment with fourth graders, I was able to follow a unit plan that was produced by the school. It was something that I followed exactly because I was new as a teacher. This was an example of a unit that I followed that helped me to gradually teach them lesson after lesson. It was important for fourth graders to get into a rhythm of developing math skills from basic to more complex.
It shows understanding of the standard because I have some practice with structuring a learning environment that gradually teaches the students step by step which allows them to complete their personal goals. It was important to have a whole unit plan to follow so that I was able to learn progression through a unit. Even being the teacher, I was able to learn these steps and learn how to transfer to the next unit. It was all broken down pretty clearly for them.
I learned that the learning process can be slower for some students. It is important to have a plan that will breakdown the different lessons that will lead them to being successful on the tests. In my future classroom, I will create a unit plan that will be the same concept as this one. I will use a gradual release for the students to totally grasp the ideas that are being presented to them. As a PE teacher, it will be utilized the same way to give the students time to learn skills and develop.
