Explaining Flickerball Rules - https://trnty.box.com/s/fcnnvvnmjxit0qn381v4d38i4h98b93x
Discussion on the lesson
This contained the rules of the sports of Flickerball. This was one of my first lessons that I taught while student teaching. It was a different sport for me but the rules were quite interesting. It was important for the students to really pay attention to this unit and for me to be clear and concise. Since most of the students did hear about it before, it was vital to pay attention to the rules. This was one of the first units that was taught in the beginning of the semester during the winter. They were inside participating in the fieldhouse with two other classes.
This is important because it shows how my teaching style is regarding lessons. I tend to walk back and forth while trying to cover all of the class. Also, it was important for me to converse with the class rather than preaching or listing off rules to them. It shows evidence that I understood the rules of the game while being comfortable enough to speak and remember the rules in front of them.
I learned that I want to take less pauses when I speak. I learned that students will pay attention more when the teacher is just conversing the students instead of acting like your listing off rules in a monotone voice. It was important for me to realize that I was doing this in the beginning. It was essential for me moving forward in my student teaching. I was able to grapple the idea of how to use a different voice and keep the students engaged.
Lesson plan for Volleyball Lesson: Detailed Lesson Plans.docx
Discussion of the lesson plan
This lesson plan was one of the first detailed lesson plans that I was able to create while student teaching. It covered my preparation for the lesson and step by step instruction plan. It contains my daily plan that I went through when covering the sport of volleyball. It was produced towards the beginning of the semester when lesson plans needed to be improved. It was produced during a unit I knew clearly so it was one of the easier ones that I have written.
It is important to look at the lesson plan and see where my instructional plan came from. It shows evidence that I know how maximize student learning to give them the best possible lesson on that day. It was a prepared lesson that I spent time on to make sure I knew exactly what was going to happen from start to finish.
I learned that now all lessons plans go the way as planned. Through making the lesson plan, I learned that there is a lot of preparation that goes through lesson planning and a lot of time needs to be spent making sure the students are always doing something. In PE, there are some lessons that are easier than others. Volleyball was a sport that was not much to prepare for but PE classes could always have injuries. Therefore, It was important to learn that all lesson plans need to be thorough.
