God promised to send a rescuer to save His people, and that rescuer would come from the family tree of Adam and Eve. God's promise continued through generations. 

God's people had grown into a great nation, and God used Moses to rescue them from Egypt. Years went by and Joshua was their new leader and he was preparing the Israelites to enter the land God had promised them, Canaan. 

The problem was that Canaan wasn't empty. There were lots of people in the city of Jericho. So Joshua sent two spies to search the land. The spies came to Rahab's house to stay the night, and she took a big risk by helping them. Rahab didn't grow up knowing God, but she had heard about the powerful things God had done to protect His people. Rahab knew that the Israelites were going to take over her city, so she asked that they remember her and her family and keep them safe.  

With Rahab's help, they conquered the city of Jericho as they entered the Promised Land. And guess what? Rahab would be part of Jesus' family tree! When Rahab learned about God, she chose to trust Him. And Rahab and her family were saved because of her help and belief in God. 

Our question today is: Could someone outside Israel be part of God's promise? Yes! God welcomes those who trust Him. 

We see how God was faithful to His people, and those who would begin to trust in Him. We see His faithfulness in this verse:

Know therefore that the Lord your God is God, the faithful God who keeps covenant and steadfast love with those who love him and keep his commandments, to a thousand generations... - Deuteronomy 7:9

Rahab only knew about what God did in Egypt for His people because others shares about it. We can tell others about God too and that He sent His Son, Jesus, to rescue us from our sins. We are all in need of a Savior.
