So far, we have learned that the people in Jesus’ family line were Adam and Eve, Seth, Noah, and Shem.
God blessed Noah and Shem and instructed them in Genesis 9:7-
“And you, be fruitful and multiply, increase greatly on the earth and multiply in it.”
And they did but not in the way God instructed them to. As there were more and more people, they focused on making themselves great instead of giving glory to God. They built a huge tower, but for their glory, not God’s glory. So, God mixed up their languages so they couldn’t understand each other and scattered the people all over the world…like He had asked them to do.
Well, we eventually get to a man named Abraham. When God called Abraham, He made a lot of promises. He promised to bless Abraham. He promised to give Abraham land and a child. God promised him that he would be the father of a great nation and that all nations would be blessed through him. All the blessings that God wanted to give Adam and Eve, he gave to Abraham.
How could God’s promise save the whole world? God chose Abraham to bless all nations!
Abraham and his wife Sarah finally had a child, Isaac, but when the Lord told Abraham his children would be as numerous as stars of the sky God had in mind a family of faith even bigger than Abraham’s natural family. Everyone who believes in Jesus is a part of God’s family of faith and is a child of Abraham.
When we believe that Jesus is our rescuer and choose to follow Him, we enter God’s family and are never separated from Him again. 1 John 4:15 tells us:
Whoever confesses that Jesus is the Son of God, God abides in him, and he in God.
God’s promise wasn’t just for Abraham and his family but for all nations and all people who choose Him. How could God’s promise save the whole world? God chose Abraham to bless all nations!
For the LORD is good; his steadfast love endures forever, and his faithfulness to all generations. Psalm 100:5
Read Galatians 3:8. How do you think Jesus fulfilled God's promise to bless all nations?
What does it mean for you that God's plan included people like us - not just from Abraham's family?
Pray and thank God that his rescue plan includes all people.
