The family line of Jesus began with Adam and Eve, and continued with their son, Seth. Many, many years later, the family tree continued with Noah. One generation at a time, God's rescue plan was moving forward.

At this time, there were a lot of people on the earth, but instead of loving God, many people chose sin. But Noah was righteous and blameless compared to the wickedness all around him. He wasn’t perfect and Noah sinned, but he stood apart from everyone else because he walked faithfully with God.

One day, God told Noah to build a giant boat. God would use this boat to rescue much of his creation, but only one family would be saved to continue His rescue plan for the world. How will God keep his promise of a Savior alive? God protected Jesus' family line. God protected Noah and his family, which Included his wife, and his sons, Shem, Ham, and Japheth, and their wives. God remained faithful even when all of the people were unfaithful to Him.

After the flood, Noah’s family started a new life. Do you think they were perfect and without sin after the flood? Unfortunately, not…they still sinned. Noah obeyed God, but that wasn’t enough. God’s promise to Adam and Eve was never fulfilled in Noah, but Noah is part of the story to get to the Promised Savior, Jesus.

So, how did God keep His promise of a Savior alive? He protected Jesus’ family line.

Jesus’ family line started with Adam and Eve, then Seth, Noah, and Noah’s son, Shem.

For the LORD is good; his steadfast love endures forever, and his faithfulness to all generations. Psalm 100:5
