2 Timothy 3:16-17
Scripture
16 All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, 17 so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.
2 Timothy 4:9-13
Paul's Bible
9 Do your best to come to me quickly, 10 for Demas, because he loved this world, has deserted me and has gone to Thessalonica. Crescens has gone to Galatia, and Titus to Dalmatia. 11 Only Luke is with me. Get Mark and bring him with you, because he is helpful to me in my ministry. 12 I sent Tychicus to Ephesus. 13 When you come, bring the cloak that I left with Carpus at Troas, and my scrolls, especially the parchments.
Most people who have a Bible, have a favorite Bible, or a favorite verse...It seems St. Paul did...He asks that someone bring his scrolls, especially the parchments...He wanted to read some Scripture from his old parchments...As we read these verses in Second Timothy we realize that the Bible is an old book, that is inspired by God...In fact, if one had St. Paul's scrolls and parchments today, they would be invaluable, and exceptionally old...
The original Bible is old...The very first written manuscripts of the Bible have never been found...So the Bible is much older than the one Paul had...Each of the early Bibles would have been few and far between and would have worn out by their frequent use...No doubt that Paul's Bibles would have shown some wear...
It now seems with all the translations, and different languages around the world everyone has a little bit different Bible, with a little translation away from the very first transcripts...But I think God watches over the One Book, that He inspired, and keeps tabs on it...After all, someone would have had to write or even rewrite Paul's scrolls and parchments (during his lifetime)...
