In order to cast your vote as a member of the 29th District Democrats, you must register as a member.
The 29th Legislative District Democrats conduct formal candidate endorsements during two scheduled membership meetings each election cycle. These meetings are typically held in May (Monday after filing week) and June, in accordance with our Standing Rules (Article XII).
For detailed procedures, including endorsement criteria and deadlines, please review our Endorsement Rules as outlined in the Standing Rules of the 29th LD.
The following members are eligible to vote on endorsements:
Elected and Appointed Precinct Committee Officers (PCOs)
Acting PCOs
General Members in good standing
As defined in the Bylaws (Article VI):
A General Member is a person who resides in the 29th LD, is over the age of 16, declares themselves a Democrat, and has either:
Paid annual dues; or
Completed approved volunteer hours, as outlined in the Standing Rules (Article III).
To be eligible to vote at an endorsement meeting, members must have fulfilled the membership requirements prior to the meeting's start. Dues can be paid, or volunteer time logged, in advance. Please allow time for your membership to be processed.
To be considered for endorsement by the 29th LD Democrats, a candidate must:
Submit a completed 29th LD Endorsement Questionnaire by the deadline (before May’s call to meeting or June’s call to meeting, depending on the round).
Appear before the membership either:
In person,
Electronically (e.g., Zoom), or
Via a proxy in extenuating circumstances.
Be nominated and seconded by voting members during the endorsement meeting.
Candidates who do not meet all of these requirements will not be eligible for endorsement.
Note: PCO positions are not eligible for endorsement.
May Endorsement Meeting: Held the Monday after filing week. Candidates wishing to be included in printed materials (e.g., pamphlets) should complete the endorsement process by this meeting.
June Endorsement Meeting: Final opportunity for primary endorsements.
Post-Primary Endorsements: May be considered for candidates advancing to the general election if not previously endorsed.
