212th Troopers can expect different cooldowns and limits depending on their position in the battalion. Enlisted, NCOs, Officers, and Command Staff all have different guidelines.
Enlisted Troopers (PVT - CPL) have a 1-day promotion cooldown for each rank until the rank of corporal. Recently promoted corporals will have a cooldown of 1 day and must have the necessary aptitude to command small squads to be promoted to Sergeant.
Junior NCOs (SGT - SFC) have a 3-day promotion cooldown for each rank until the rank of Sergeant First Class. As an NCO, you are required to meet a tryout quota of once a week. Failure to do so will result in a warning and then a strike.
Recently promoted NCOs should expect their promotions to come less frequently than their enlisted days, unless they show great excellence and proactiveness in minor command duties.
Senior NCOs (MSGT - SGM) have a 3-day promotion cooldown for each rank until the rank of Sergeant Major. As an NCO, you are required to meet a tryout quota of once a week. Failure to do so will result in a warning and then a strike.
Senior NCOs who wish to become an Officer are permitted to fill out the officer application form on the forums. Applications are reviewed by the 212th Command team and candidates who show good officer potential will be selected for promotion to 2LT.
Senior NCOs who show an excellent aptitude for leadership may also be selected for special promotion to officer without having to go through the application process.
Junior Officers (2LT - CPT) have a 7-day promotion cooldown for each rank until the rank of Captain. As Officer, you are required to meet a tryout quota of four a week.
Failure to do so will result in a warning and then a strike.
Junior Officers are expected to take more responsibility over the battalion and additional promotions hereafter will be looking at the officer's proactiveness in that regard. Junior Officers act as the direct leaders of the NCOs and Enlisted, relaying the orders from Senior Officers+ down to the rest of the battalion.
Senior Officers (MAJ+) have a 10-day promotion cooldown for each rank until the rank of Colonel. As Officer, you are required to meet a tryout quota of four a week.
Failure to do so will result in a warning and then a strike.
As the top ranks of the battalion, Senior Officers are expected to handle the majority of everyday maintenance of the battalion. Senior Officers are to ensure that all Command decisions and orders are properly communicated to and understoof by their subordinates. It is a Senior Officer's duty to ensure that the battalion is operating effectively, maintaining high standards of discipline and combat-readiness.
Command Staff (COL+) are the brains of the battalion and are expected to make the major decisions of the battalion. They will gather and analyze all the suggestions given to them through the chain of command and suggest changes to better the Quality of Life for the troopers. Command Staff have no promotion cooldowns, however since there are only 3 positions, troopers will be selected extremely carefully and will likely never see a promotion thereafter in the battalion (Commanders promoted to HICOM will effectively leave the battalion, and these promotions are extremely rare).
