We had a very successful Stake Day of Service 9/6/2025. Here are the highlights and you can see some pictures here :
Food/Fund Drive - We collected 1261 pounds of food from 25-30 families, which was the most since 2018 and about 3 times gathered in 2022 when we last had a food drive with the Food Bank for Larimer County. Another $760 was donated on-line. The manager at the food bank was so impressed : "Your donation is really awesome." This and other donations get shared with about 100 other agencies and partners throughout Larimer County. "We so appreciate all you do for the many food bank clients who will benefit from all your amazing efforts."
A Little Help - Fourteen families helped 8 clients for the non-profit A Little Help with their outside yardwork, pruning, yard and other outside help for older adults to live independently and feel valued. ".We have heard from some of the members that received services and they could not be happier and more touched that they had such hard working families that accomplished so much in a short time . "
Sleep In Heavenly Peace - We delivered 18 beds to 11 different families. 'A big haul for a single delivery day.' The objective of the group is 'no kid sleeps on the floor in our town." Also provided 2 hand-made blankets for future needs (prototype for potential future project)
KidsPak - Eighteen members spent several hours doing the pack of some 800 bags to help relieve weekend food needs of school aged kids in our school district.
City of Fort Collins - Eighteen volunteers helped to spruce up the Eastside Park for the Fort Collins city - a coat of paint on the pavilion next to the restrooms, dressing up the soft surface tails, stain tables and benches, and general cleanup.
Boyd Lake State Park - Four members helped refinish the kiosk at the south trailhead junction (sanding, staining, painting).
Loveland Willow Bend Park - Seventeen members did maintenance and weed control at the Willow Bend Park and Natural area, where we were one of the 1st groups in 2017 to help prepare this park to open for the first time.
Community Kitchen - Eighteen members of The Boyd Lake ward spent 2 hours doing their usual deep clean of the Community Kitchen in downtown Loveland. " It looks good and smells good. What a wonderful way to give back to our community. "
The following two projects had to be cancelled due to not enough volunteers:
Habitat for Humanity Loveland - Cancelled - not enough volunteers - will look to schedule an opportunity in the future . In March, the Church was invited to join other faith-based organizations to help staff one Saturday each for a build of a home for a needful family. 10 volunteers (ages 16+) were asked to help with this build in process in Loveland. Since a build is more complex, timeframe is 7:30 AM - 2:30 PM (or as available), but for those who have done a build before, it has been a memorable experience. Click on link to see details and register. (Cancelled)
Pinewood Reservoir -Larimer County Department of Natural Resources Cancelled - not enough volunteers
Thanks for the service at our annual Day of Service. The community has benefitting greatly from our service.
