Read: Luke 1:46-47 - And Mary said: “My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord; my spirit rejoices in God my savior.

In Latin, the word Magnificat means “praise”. It is taken from the Gospel of Saint Luke. This is also known as the Canticle of Mary. This is Mama Mary’s hymn of praise to the Lord. She rejoices in having the privilege of giving birth to Jesus, our Savior. After she gives her “fiat” to becoming the Mother of God, she goes with haste to help her cousin Elizabeth, who is delighted to see her. Our Mother then expresses her joy in Magnificat. Her heart rejoices because she realizes God’s greatness in her life. We also recognize God’s greatness in our life and this leads us to proclaim it to the world. We must show our God’s greatness in the way we live and in the way we rejoice in His presence in our life. Best for us to concretize this is by being part of the Army of Mary. As spiritual war intensifies, more people are needed for the mission. 

Mary is a big factor in winning our spiritual battles and the war today against modernism, hedonism and the culture of DEATH. How can we be true to our calling as the Army of Mary?

• Be part of the Mission. Answer the call and go on a mission. Like Mary, when God called her at a young age, she decided to obey and to be ready for what God has in store for her no matter what. As part of the Army of Mary we need to be mission-ready especially today where a lot of people are hungry to feel the love of God and being misled to the truth.

• Be Strong in times of difficulty. Mary witnessed various victories and struggles of Jesus. From the birth of Jesus, His miracles up to the passion and death, she remained with Jesus. She showed her strength in her resilience and her embrace of her calling. As the Army of Mary, we should be strong missionaries especially in times of difficulties. Along the way we will encounter the trials and challenges, but as Mary’s Army,we will never back down. We, as one army, will move forward and continue the mission like Mary did.

• Be an Authentic Witness. As part of Army of Mary, our challenge is to proclaim what is authentic, especially today in a world where there are a lot of fake news, conspiracies and -isms (modernism etc). It affects our mission and most importantly our beliefs in the aspects of faith, family and life. To be authentic is to believe in God, who is the way, the truth and the life; and apart from Him we can do nothing.
